King Tiger (TigerII) Porsche turret build.
Hi guys,
i aquired myself a lovely (what i thought) King tiger with a porsche turret for £140 including post.
I then had to buy parts for it to bring it up to where i am now,
i got a : -
Tamiya MF unit for £36.19
Tamiya DMD for £76.91
Comms cable for £3.00
MG set for £5.43
a sprue with the back plate for the mg for £3.62 (whole sprue for 1 part!! )
Tamiya speaker box for £17.35
Flash unit for 20 dollars so about £12-14 quid
Bringing the total build price so far to almost double what i orriginally thought it would be around the £325 mark. Hazar.
I need to : -
get and figure out how to fit a re-coil and mod it to fire properly
fit turret rotation ring and rotation unit
Fit the broken cummanders cumpola which some muppet that had the tank before me glued together then snapped off
paint the commander (oh heck)
and about a gazillion other jobs i cant be bothered to name at almost 1 o clock in the morning
So far i have: -
painted the ropes on the side and made a start on the tools (didnt go so well)
fabricated the lower hull and fitted the electronics
cut down the speaker box to make it all fit
with the greatly appreiated help of Septon managed to get the awkward DMD and MF set up
Fit the hull mg
glued on the front light (needs the wire behind it)
removed to track links (was wayyyy to tight)
and like things to do thats about all i can be bothered to list at this moment in time!
so anyway pics without complete captions as of yet as i cant be arsed
as received
light without a cable
Cupola muppet and the muppet paintedit with some muppeting thick muppet paint
Hull MG missing
Hull MG fitted
sloppy tracks before links removed
Tracks tightened (do they look right to you ?)
Fabbed hull pics
need to fit turret ring to this
how on earth do i fit re-coil and elervation to this ?
need to fit rotation unit to this
GRRRRR
Cable things
GARRR me hartays thats it for now!

Re: King Tiger (TigerII) Porsche turret build.
Im using the rotation unit I had made from 35rctanks $35.00 plus shipping make a gearhead motor out of a servo it works off the Tamiya DMD unit .
For the main gun im using the one from Rccommand for the Matorro conversion .

Re: King Tiger (TigerII) Porsche turret build.
Looks like you have a long build there Matt, but it wouldn't be fun any other way! The turret looks like a static kit one, might take a fair bit of modding to add the elevation and recoil. But for the recoil mod, you can do Tailend Charlies one to a standard KT recoil unit. A lot cheaper than the Wecohe kit!
Hope it goes well, and cant wait to see it coming along!
Cheers,
Rik

matt looking good a long way foeward than mine
have you thought of grafting a heng/long one on the turret traverse
and as jimmy said using a servo with the potentiometer removed as the motor

Re: King Tiger (TigerII) Porsche turret build.
Hi guys, thanks for the moral support
doubt it will be ready for cobbo, as i havent got sufficeint part yet nor money to get them in the mean time
and yes Rik i want the re-coild to look like tailend charlie's ( http://www.rctankwarfare.com/Forums/index.php/topic,2982.0.html ) because that one looks great!
Hi Rob yes the turret traverse is going to be all HL, hl ring and motor as its small enough to fit in the space (KT's have suprisingly not much room )
cheers guys,
Matt
