Hi everyone,
I have tried Heng Long,Tamiya and Asp but was thinking that it would be interesting to try the IBU2. Nobody has one in my club, so I was looking for a comparison to the Asp. Does anyone have both types of electronics? I am interested in the fors and againsts for both.
Also, is there a distributor for the IBU in Australia, or do I need to order from overseas ?
Thank you for any answers.
Cheers

Re: IBU in AUS
No IBU distributor in Australia, there is one in Japan rest in Europe.
I've sold a few to Australia over the years if that helps.
Regarding comparisons there are a few members here with both so hopefully will chime in.
Ian.

Re: IBU in AUS
I've got both an IBU2 and IBU2 pro, they're great mid-level boards at their price points.
On the plus side:
On the plus side:
- - they're fully plug-and-play and easy to set up (you just swap the HL plugs over),
- the sounds and driving are loads better than the stock HL rubbish,
- they've got a decent feature set (Tamiya IR, proportional smoke, BB recoil, etc),
- TPA amplifier (it lets you use separate speakers for gun sounds and the engine, which is a fantastic idea).
- - customisation is fairly limited, there aren't many configurable parameters,
- the sounds and driving aren't up there with the higher-end stuff (Elmod, Benedini, et al),
- most of the soundsets that come with the board aren't very good, in my opinion. I had to spend quite a lot of time making new soundsets in Audacity before I was happy with the way the tank sounded.

Re: IBU in AUS
Thanks Tankbear and Raminator.
I will have to compare the UK exchange rate and shipping costs to the Aussie dollar.
Raminator, thanks for the comparison. Have you used the RCTanks Australia Asp board ?
I think that it is on par with the higher end stuff. Maybe the IBU2 pro will be a good (not great ) sounding option that still gives Tamiya quality options.
Depending on price, this could be a good option for a future Elefant build.
Oh, and i am located in sunny Melbourne.
Thanks again, Cheers

Re: IBU in AUS
You might find the ASP is nil stock mate........
As it always is...........
I have a recent email to the fact that no more boards will be made that eliminate or enhance the stock HL set up like the Elmod or others do.
The Mako is being re-released, but only as many moaned about the lack of support for substitute options after them being available here before.
Complete replacement is likely in order to give you the outcome you envisage.
Shame really , buy local is not a big hit here right now.
