Hmmm, but the 17 pounder is also three inches

British guns confuse me. Give me inches or millimeters any day. For instance, 6 pounder means nothing to me, while 57mm I can visualize and understand.

I’m in the process of an Achilles, early version, racks are on the way but I’m struggling to work out a working recoil and elevation system that include the gun block in the recoil and hiding the whole system
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

Hidden elevation is no problem, hidden recoil is another story.

I think the whole "pounder" designation comes from the days of the black powder cannons and it refers to the weight of the projectile.Maccrage wrote:British guns confuse me. Weight of shot in that caliber, I also assume from the old Naval days.
The Matlda 2 pdr was a 40mm with a 2 pound shot.
the 6, 17 and 25 Pdrs were similarly designated.
I am with you, give me the MM diameter & that says enough !!
Even the German KwK xxxxxx designation gets a bit messy at times, but at least you know that the thing is X-BIG !!

Re: M10 Duck bill
I have an idea on how to do it and since I dropped it at a show and the original turret is damaged it does provide me the opertunity to rig something up while awaiting the replacementEcam wrote:Hidden elevation is no problem, hidden recoil is another story.

This is part of our dad's (career USMC and what mom said was ok) collection. Some day we hope to have a safe haven for what he collected over a life time.
