Son of Sherman

Post by lmcq11 »

FYI, got a email from David Doyle books. He is selling the 2 volume Son of Sherman books of those that had reserved it earlier this year but never completed the sale. He said he has a handful. He seems to imply that after this, no more. Just ordered mine. 942 pages of pics, graphs and details.

That's basically what I paid for my set off Ebay. Luckily the books go up in price over the years.

It's tempting, but shipping to Europe at $75 is a bit much... Is it worth it?

It sure is the ultimate reference to have on hand for those with upcoming big Sherman projects or with a passion for this tank, not so much if it’s just to do a Sherman paint job or to put the book on the shelf for 10 years.

The book description and table of content are impressive.

I'd say that if you ever decided to sell them in a few years, you could make your $75 back pretty easily. They are very detailed.

It's funny, the Encyclopedia Britannica salesman used a similar scenario many years ago. . . .

Got them, that's a lot of Shermans.

Second edition compared to the first. It comes in a nice book case.

As an example, graphs for a specific hull version that used to be on one page (top right) are now spread over two pages (bottom) with profile and full tank views.

It's for the guys who want to know instead of guessing.
