Hi Guys
I did a little work about 4 months ago to convert an already existing model of a WW1 British 18pdr into something that would be used in WW2.
I did some research and found some companies did a retro upgrade so the artillery pieces could be towed behind trucks on and off road without falling to bits.
There were a few different variants or prototype, this one is my first take on a simplified upgrade.
The lower shield is removed, the axle is re-jigged so the smaller diameter road wheels still give it good clearance and the cart style braking system removed.
The cannon is designed with a different anti recoil system and i have also made the breech able to open and close.
I have also designed a mk2 version of this which i made with help from an Australian museum who posted video of one they have.
So keep your eyes peeled for that aswell.
Bearings in the wheels and 3d printed tpu tyre
Catherine (WCP RC MODELS) has done a brilliant job of giving it a good clean, paint & weathered appearance and has taken some great photos.
Also pictures on a small diorama piece we made from old scrap wood and helps give somewhere for small artillery pieces to live or be photographed
