NOOB - Whats Next
Hi guys
I'm a total 100% RC Tank beginner.
I've been building a 10th scale panzer and now at the point where I need to add radio gear, motors etc etc.
I bought a Henglong panzer with the idea to use it as a doner vehicle. Unfortunately I've since discovered this wasn't a good idea.
I already have a pair of 540 motors which came with EDC
So with all that in mind
1 - What do I need. Literally everything that goes inside the tank and how does it all go together
2 - Do you have any preferences of makes etc
3 - Budget, around £400 to £500. But its not set in stone for the right equipment.

I'm not 100% sure I can offer the correct advice as I am not familiar with your 1/10th scale, in a way your build is quite advanced, adding photos in here is a bit clunky but might help people get an idea, the gear box will be the bit that will be the most tricky.
I recently parted out an old 27mHz radio tank, I've got the control unit, speaker, motor for turning the turret and gun rising and lowering motor all 1/16th and a wee smoke unit sitting here. you could use that as a starting point. otherwise have a look at Forgebear, they are really good.

Can you recommend a radio set. i've been looking at the spektrum dx8. Would it work for tanks ?
Do I need a receiver as well as the transmiter ? or does radio connect directly to tank controller
Can you recommend a controller !

I am afraid I don't know about the spektrum dx8 but I'm sure others might
I've got a heng long RX18 control system, I've just checked and I can get the motors to work but the speaker was not making any sound I am not sure why it did when I deconstructed it. Its yours if you want it. this is not my video but it is the same system.

Good evening,
I may not have understood everything? but as for the DX8 radio, will not work with an original turntable, HengbLong or Taigen, as in the video. For this you need an electronics that works with a current standard receiver, for sound advice on the radio ? I advise you to read the excellent blig of the friend "Rad" member of this forum

Those are brushless motors so toy-grade Heng Long or Taigen wouldn't work. Best option would be Elmod Fusion Pro Rev. F. but unfortuantely it seems all stock is sold out after the successor was announced.

Good evening Kaczor, enlarging the photo, I am not convinced that these motors are brushless? But I could be wrong

On the other hand, follows not convinced, that the plastic gears last a long time in operation

Motors are brushed and come with there own ecu (right name?)
I feel I must make clear,
I have no interest in 1/16th scale (to small)
I have no interest in Henglong, Tamaya or any other kits etc.
