Ford GPA Torro

Post by xhelfix »

good evening,

i want to show some pics of the comming Torro Ford GPA.
It was possiebel to buy it at the Intermodell show at Dortmund at the Torro shop.
I think you can buy it at the internet-shop in middel of december, but im not shure.

So here we go:

And with some figures (Torro will also make some figures, but later, like the Schwimmwagen-Crew):

...some russian boy´s:

And some pic on my maneuver terrain :

I can say that it drives all right and also swimm mutch better than the german Schwimmwagen from Torro.
But thats shurly cause the GPA can swimm forward and backward and also had for steering in water also a rudder.

Here are 2 short videos:

Fantastic unboxing. Looks like those "decals" are some poor quality stickers :(

Thanks a lot for the close up pics!

It sure doesn't look that bad as a modeller point of view.
Still a few details to enhance and improve but the base is far better than I feared.

Thank you for the update although it's plastic look ruins it,
I would be prepping it for paint as soon as it was out of it's box,
I was thinking that the decals looked a lot better than the usual fare from Taigen/Torro/Heng Long but what do I know after all I am spoiled because I use Rads Stencils
I have to confess to being distracted by a plethora of photographs on RCU purporting to show Tamiya's latest 1/16 Tour de Force "A Vickers Mk 3 Centurion",
I am getting a bit fed up with the Centurion rumor mill but the pictures are there to see,
All we need now is official confirmation from Tamiya.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

From the official photos from Torro site it looks like awful Heng Long style "stickers".

Whether or not the decals are good or bad I think from those pictures that Stencils would be a vast improvement

good morning,

thanks for your nice words.
Im not shure how good ore bad the stickers are, i will test it in some time :-)

Last sunday i also made a driving test, it works well, but at the ned it stopps, no for- ore bachwardsdriving are possibel......

Here is the video:
phpBB [video]

And also in this video at the end you can see it swimming with a trailer, maby better with only one person inside:
phpBB [video]

But after the hilltest...there was no vorward ore backward...so i have to serach for the cause....
I opend the littel part at the bottom:

The 2 geras are was not close together, so it doesent work.
First i try to bring them together with some poly pices:
IMG_4361.JPG
IMG_4362.JPG

...dosent work.....so i take a second look if i can adjust the other "Kegelrad" thats locatet at the "Motorwelle".
So i have to open up the GPA.

2 screws are at the front, they easy, the third was a bit hidden under the spareweehl:

And here you can see the inside:
IMG_4365.JPG
Its an N20 gearmotor (the blue one is only for swimming):
IMG_4368.JPG
Good the there is a bec plug to seperate the upper.

I try to move the motor, but no way.
So i look again to theKegelrad from the Motor, i have no that smal Inbus (and there is also a lot of screwloking on the imbussrev) , so i try to move the kegelrad with a smal screwdriver a bit in direktion from the other kegelrad....and, well that works out!
Now it drives again
And i put some poly sheets behind the Kegelrad, hopefully it doesent move back agin.

So for now it draives again, will se how long 8)

Ill keep you updatet, greetz, Andy

Thanks for sharing this potential problem with us Andy, glad you found a temporary fix for it but in all honesty you should have no need to be doing this especially after such limited use performing only the functions it was designed to do, this is not good news partically for the price Torro will be asking for it  Hopefully yours will keep working the way it was intended now

Cheers,Lee.
