Re: 1/16 rc FO Cheetah PRTL -Holland version
Hi
I'm still running my Tamiya Gepard (early 1980's model) as an original version from Oerlikon, Mine is based on Test vehicle No 2 which we had at Oxanboden Firng Range just outside Zurich. The muzzle brake's fitted to your model is correct for the early 35mm KDC cannon fitted to version. They are used to compute the individual velocity of each round as it leaves the barrel, so that the computer can compensate for ballistic drop on the next round as the barrel wears.
I'm still running her with the original clutch drive system and it works a treat. The original metal tracks have worn out, so I replaced them with M26 plastic tracks and they run okay.
The turret rotation is an old servo converted to 360' rotation and a HL turret ring. The elevation is also servo operated. The radar rotation is by a small motor gearbox from ebay and rotates at 60rpm.
The whole model is run on a Turnigy 9X radio with a 15amp ESC on the main drive motor, a 3amp ESC on the turret rotation and the rest is standard servo's.
When I get home some time next week if you want I'll take some photo's of her workings and post them or send them to you.
regards Denzil
ps I used to test fire and proof these weapons in the early 80's and had the chance to drive No 2 a few times.
