Brief IBU2U setup guide.

Post by Tankbear »

Here is a brief IBU2U setup guide.

First need to configure the radio to the IBU2U

Connect

Receiver cables between receiver and IBU2U sequence is not important but polarity is! If you have a base version you need to use inputs 1-4
Connect a volume pot. Note leaving the yellow jumper plug connect will cause the unit to operate at full volume. Risk of damaging the speaker and ears due to close proximity
Connect speaker
Connect power

Turn on radio and IBU2U, wait for the IBU2U to finish it’s start up checks and the blue LED goes solid, and also check the receiver is bound to the radio (normally a solid LED)

Remove the green jumper plug

Follow the audio instructions, when instructed put the green jumper plug back in its place.

Radio to IBU2U calibration is done.

Next you may want to configure the tanks settings.

To do this power off the IBU2U and remove the microSD card and place into a computer (Windows or Apple). In the root of the microSD card there is a file “ibu2u” this is the settings file open it and it should open into Notepad (Windows). You will see the instruction on the left = value and ;

Key
Instruction – is the instruction or command
= - is equals
Value – is setting for the instruction
; - Anything after the ; is ignored it is brief guidance to the setting of the value.

Here is an example

EngineOnOff=4;0=NOT_USED, 1=UPSX_DIAG, 2=UPDX_DIAG, 3=DOWNSX_DIAG, 4=DOWNDX_DIAG, 5=CH5, 6=CH6, 7=CH7, 8=CH8
LightsOnOff=3;0=NOT_USED, 1=UPSX_DIAG, 2=UPDX_DIAG, 3=DOWNSX_DIAG, 4=DOWNDX_DIAG, 5=CH5, 6=CH6, 7=CH7, 8=CH8
InertiaOnOff=2;0=NOT_USED, 1=UPSX_DIAG, 2=UPDX_DIAG, 3=DOWNSX_DIAG, 4=DOWNDX_DIAG, 5=CH5, 6=CH6, 7=CH7, 8=CH8
SmokeOnOff=1;0=NOT_USED, 1=UPSX_DIAG, 2=UPDX_DIAG, 3=DOWNSX_DIAG, 4=DOWNDX_DIAG, 5=CH5, 6=CH6, 7=CH7, 8=CH8
RemoteVolume=0;0=NOT_USED, 1=UPSX_DIAG, 2=UPDX_DIAG, 3=DOWNSX_DIAG, 4=DOWNDX_DIAG, 5=CH5, 6=CH6, 7=CH7, 8=CH8
OptionalSounds=0;0=NOT_USED, 1=UPSX_DIAG, 2=UPDX_DIAG, 3=DOWNSX_DIAG, 4=DOWNDX_DIAG, 5=CH5, 6=CH6, 7=CH7, 8=CH8

The above is a typical Base setting where engine start stop is in the diagonal down right location. If you try selecting 5 to 8 it will be ignored as these are Full Option only.

Some other settings you may want to change are the gearbox settings

GbType=0;0=Standard, 1=Clutch (Tamiya/DKLM)

In most case this be 0 for regular left and right gearboxes.

GbSuperspin=100;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set superspin speed

Superspin setting, 100 is full power and a bit unrealistic even on modern tanks. 60 or less is a nice compromise between realistic and driveable tank

GbMinPowerLeft=10;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set minimum power feed to left gearbox motor / Tamiya-DKLM steer left-right
GbMaxPowerLeft=100;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set maximum power feed to left gearbox motor / Tamiya-DKLM steer left-right
GbMinPowerRight=10;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set minimum power feed to left gearbox motor / Tamiya-DKLM forward-reverse
GbMaxPowerRight=100;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set maximum power feed to right gearbox motor / Tamiya-DKLM forward-revers
e

These settings adjust the min and max power to the drive motors. Allows for speed of the tank to be reduced to be more realistic.

TrackRecoilTime=10;Value range 1 - 1000 (milliseconds) set track recoil duration
TrackRecoilSpeed=10;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set track recoil speed
TrackRecoilDirection=0;0=normal, 1=reverse set track recoil direction

Track recoil, set to 0 if don’t want active. Note if track recoil is active the IBU2U will not activate track recoil if the tank is driving.

GbReverse=100;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set reverse speed

Sets reverse speed, this is a percentage of the forward speed. Allows for realistic tank which can’t drive same speed forward and backwards
