My late updated from mid production winter tiger 1
Here goes then i decided that i wanted a late production tiger 1, i had already updated a early Heng long tiger to mid production level but what i really wanted was a late production so when funds allowed i rebuilt it all over again, the 3rd build on this tank i must have it bad ha ha. So i after asking for advice on this forum what the differences are ( thanks to all who gave me the specs needed), i hit ebay and ordered a new Tiagen lower hull steel reinforced with torsion bar suspension, new rear back plate etc, late steel roadwheels, drive wheels etc, black steel gearboxs, Taigen late metal tracks, attak resin muzzle/mg canvas covers for the hobbyboss tiger1 and adapted to fit, pair of c hooks and metal c hook clamps all available from forgebear. The deck was then shaved and the plate from behind the drivers hatch removed,s mine mounting paltes shaved off, the tools/ jack block were removed and the light posts were shaved and a new one added in the right place. filling in of all the holes was carried out and the holes for tools and jackblock were redone in correct places. The turret pistol port was removed and zimmerit redone both sides a starting handle was made and added to the deck just in front of the aerial. Spare track and clamps were sourced from forgebear again and added to turret. im updating tx-rx to 2.4 system too..All the redone/new work was then painted in winter white again and weathering/mud blended in to original. Also figures by ebay seller MITSU EVO in winter cammo readded.
Halfway through taking the pics i decided it couldnt go into battle without a bucket or chain on tows

This is really outstanding work here! Very, very good detailing and looks exactly right. If you can do the comander like that, with the figure that comes with it you must be a magician. Are there other tanks you can show us?
I hope this doesn't sound like criticism because the tank's perfect how it is-but the first thing i do to the tracks is rust them! Working in automotive and construction equipment for the last 35 years as I have, you get very accustomed to seeing rust on every ferrous piece of metal that moves, painted metal on anything metal is bare within an hour after wheels (or tracks) start turning. Bare cast iron seems to rust within hours so i am one of those that likes to paint the tracks with rust or red primer and then silver on the wear spots (so far i only use the plastic tracks, the metal ones would be self-correcting after all).

Thanks for the positive feedback marc, the figures are not my work though but by an ebay uk seller mitsu evo who does a lot of different 1.16 tank crew and always does a great job and very reasonable compared to some of the prices on ebay for custom figures. yeah i agree the tracks look too new compared with the rest of the tank hopefully once i run it around they will wear appropriately as they are metal.

Hi alpha yes you have seen this tank and rider before, its the same tank i have rebuilt 3 times now from bog standard Henglong grey tiger to detailed grey tiger to a winter cammo mid production and now to late production. To date i have four tiger1 , two jagdpanthers , one king tiger and one pantiger. The tank rider here is gefrieter griffins cousin stubblehopper klaus von wanderlust the scourge of eastern front houses of ill repute. This is the final rebuild for this tiger, however my son laughs when i say this.

Nice job on this Tiger. A quick way to get the steel look of steel tracks is to buy a jar of steel hobby enamel then put the tank up so the tracks are not touching the ground start the tank up and hold a brush loaded with the steel color to the track as you run it slowly. You can paint the inside and outside of the tracks this way. It's easier than taking the tracks off to paint them and quicker then trying to wear off the black color by running the tank for hours.

Good Evening,
You have taken this tank to an amazing level of detail. ;o) It really is a great example of what can be done with the HL Tiger 1.
