How do I convince my wife?

Post by jackalope »

Ok so my wife says thats it no more "stupid remote control toys" even though for Christmas all I want is a half track. (I figure my German tanks need something to shoot at! :haha: ) I've asked her what the problem is but she never gives me a decent answer as to why she feels this way. I've told her that if she doesn't like my R/C "toys" I can always start drinking and smoking and hang out in strip clubs and collect midget porn and I get dirty looks from her.

I'm not quite sure what to do here nor do I understand her problems with my R/C stuff, I work full time, work 5 days a week, make real good money, all our bills are paid, we have no credit cards and I never tell her what she can or can't buy. But somehow she feels she can tell me what I can and can not get as a Christmas present!

Any ideas here fellas?

Jack,
I don't know your relationship and will not presume to give advice to a married man who wants to remain that way. I can offer up what I think the real issue she has with your Hobby might be. It's no big secret that what we enjoy doing is time intensive. She may feel that your 'toys' take time away that might be better spent doing things together as a couple. Not knowing the situation, that's all I feel comfortable saying. Even that is pure speculation on my part. To resolve, try spending commensurate amounts on things that she likes, wants or has dropped hints about whenever you are about to spend money on a tank. It may help, I do not know. Good luck, Sir.
regards,
Painless

Wives want you to enjoy yourself doing what they want you to do. They just do not understand. My partner is not so bad although she would prefer to see some soviet armour rather than just german. I will look out for a T34 to keep her happy. I do agree though that our hobby is rather time consuming and the other half can feel a little neglected. I also acknowledge there are females interested in the hobby also but in a minority.

Buy her a very nice necklace and on Christmas morning drape it over the barrel and drive it into the room to her. Then, just to add gravy show her how you painted her name on the side of one of your tanks... love everlasting...

Now I freely acknowledge that this will not suit everybody, But I do believe that our Antipodean hero Herman has found the solution, He spends time away on the rigs (absence making the heart grow fonder) he then helps his partner to increase the size of the family and when he is not doing that he builds some of the finest armour we have seen on this Forum and any free time left he devotes to drinking, problem solved! :haha:  :haha: :haha:   I think I have discovered my true calling, marriage relations spec. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

all things aside, Mr Painless is fair to sidestep this like a quarterback, but I reckon no matter the quantity of time, its the quality of the time you spend together that counts.
Pressure of kids, money, family, time availability etc etc all puts pressure on the pair of you.
If any one of them is disproportionate thats when the shite starts.
Today I went to look at a new car(makes tanks look like a bloody bargain) I asked if "do whatever the F you like" actually would in fact mean that :O
:wtf:

Sure, yes it does. Put in time when you have it where its needed, than give each other space.
A rut is dug pretty quick if you are under each others feet to long, or life becomes mundane not just routine(there is a difference)

When I collected(translated-hoarded) guns, my thought process was always deal first - "I will get it, she will get pissed off- she will get over it- I will still have the gun"
Never failed :/
But I put the time in ...............
Have you ever been told "even when youre here, youre not really here " ??

For me, I have always said that this job I love so much will never be called to ultimatum between her and it.
Reasoning is the ultimatum concept.
If I am put into a position to be forced to choose- she will loose, only because I was forced to make a decision based on emotion- not sense, which will affect us both and the kids. Its the end game forcing that would call my hand .
I can get another wife, but I may not get lucky enough to find a career that is both rewarding and enjoyable.

No easy answer mate, Im sure she has her reasons..............tell her you are getting a modern superbike instead of doing tanks & see if that brings her around ,
