Now you can see the gearboxes.

Each gearbox is fixed with three screws to the chassis.
Those have to be unscrewed.
Then you can remove the gearbox.
The new gearboxes can be installed the other way round.
Of course you have to solder the wires back to the electronics, so you should mark the wires first to avoid mixing them up.
But there can be problems with those gearboxes. Why? Continue reading.
There are a lot of different gearbox types.
There are some with plastic gears, with metal gears, normal ones or the 3/1-ones.
It doesn´t matter which gearbox you use. Does it?
In the next picture, you see two different types of gearboxes.
Left ones are the ordinary ones used in most Tigers.
You can have them as the plastic ones or with metal gear.
With this version, you have no problems at all.
The right ones are normally used in Panthers or PIII/StuGIII because of the position of the motors.
That means different screw positions to fix them.

And that is the problem.
If you have an old Tiger model, you only have three fixing points in the chassis.
If you have this version, only the ordinary Tiger gearboxes will fit without changes.

If you have the newer version of the Tiger, you will have still three fixing points for the left box, but there are five for the right one.
In this case you can install every gearbox made for the Tiger, even the 3/1 ones.
